Our annual summer BBQ (featuring some very British weather)

The British weather had other plans for our annual summer BBQ this year, but a little rain wasn’t enough to stop us bringing the team together.

We started the evening with an agency-wide update and the chance to reflect on everything we’ve achieved so far this year. Hearing colleagues share their highlights was a great reminder of the breadth of work happening across the agency, the impact we’re delivering for our clients, and how much we’ve grown as a team along the way.

Of course, no BBQ celebration would be complete without great food, a few drinks, and some friendly competition, so burgers and a quiz rounded off the evening perfectly.

A great way to brighten a grey afternoon and hold onto a little bit of summer before autumn officially arrives.

Back in touch with old friends

It’s always nice to make time for a catch-up, especially with people you’ve known for years.

This month, our MD, Leticia, met up with Professor Don Parker and Suzanne Cole from the University of Bristol’s Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship for a chat about all things digital, education and innovation.

Alongside catching up, the conversation turned to ways SBW could further support students on the Advanced Digital Media programme, helping bridge the gap between academic learning and the realities of working in the creative and digital industries.

It was lovely to hear about the continued success of the MA Digital Innovation programme, and we’re looking forward to seeing the Centre’s new home at Temple Meads in the near future.

Celebrating Steve’s latest chapter

We’re delighted to share that our very own copywriter, Steve Hall, has written a book.

The book tells the deeply personal story of his son’s battle with schizophrenia, the journey towards rebuilding his life, and the lessons learned along the way. As Steve puts it, “It represents a triumph over a terrible disease for which there is no known cure.”

Steve will be hosting a book launch event at Bookhaus in Wapping Wharf, where he’ll be sharing readings from the book. The evening will also feature music from his son and daughter-in-law, making it a truly special celebration of both the book and the story behind it.

This project has been a real labour of love, and we know just how much work, dedication and care Steve has poured into it. We can’t wait to celebrate the launch with him and congratulate him on this incredible achievement.

Helping parents one text at a time

Our team has been busy bringing the NESTA CBeebies Parenting campaign to life, and we’re incredibly proud of the impact this is set to make.

Developed to encourage parents across Wales to sign up to the CBeebies Parenting text message service, the campaign aims to support children’s early development through practical, easy-to-understand tips delivered straight to parents’ phones.

Building trust was at the heart of the creative approach. By meeting parents where they are and connecting with communities that can benefit most from this support, the campaign focuses on making valuable advice more accessible and encouraging meaningful engagement.

It’s rewarding to be part of a project that helps remove barriers for parents and delivers simple, effective support during those important early years. We’re proud to be helping connect families with a service that can make a real difference in everyday life.

30 years in three minutes

We recently created a three-minute animation to help Bahamas First General Insurance Company celebrate an impressive 30 years in business. The animation brings together some of the key moments, milestones and achievements that have helped shape the company over the past three decades.

First shown during the company’s AGM celebrations, the animation looks back at some of the key moments in Bahamas First’s journey, from the growth of its sister branches to achieving an AM Best rating, highlighting the dedication and ambition that have driven its success.

A huge thank you and well done to our Senior Designer and Animator, Geraldo, for bringing the story to life so brilliantly. We’re delighted to have played a small part in helping Bahamas First mark such a special milestone and celebrate 30 successful years.
